The police stated that it is not possible to go by road. But Congress is of the position that it will not change the journey.
Rahul Gandhi, who is visiting the insurgency areas of Manipur, had today decided to visit two camps in Vishnupur, where the Meitei sect resides. As per the earlier decision, Rahul Meitei was supposed to visit the camps yesterday. But the police did not get permission. This is why the visit was moved to today. Rahul Gandhi and Congress want to go by road. But this is not possible, the position of the police is to go by air.
Police stopped Rahul Gandhi's motorcade yesterday while traveling to Imphal. Rahul's convoy was stopped at Bishnupur, 20 km from Imphal. He was on his way to Churachandpur, which was worst hit by communal violence. Then Rahul reached Churachandpur in a helicopter.
After the visit, Rahul tweeted that it was unfortunate that he was stopped and that peace should be restored in the state as soon as possible. 'I came to Manipur to meet my brothers and sisters. People of all communities welcomed him with great love. It is very unfortunate that the government has blocked it. Manipur's wound should heal. Peace should be the only priority," Rahul Gandhi tweeted.
