How to edit the chat messages? : WhatsApp New Update Explained !

Facebook recently rolled out the ability to edit messages on WhatsApp for Android and iOS. You can now edit sent messages within a specified timeframe on the service. For reference, the feature has been available on its competitor apps like Telegram but WhatsApp has a much bigger user base, and it’s a welcome addition. If you are an iPhone user, you might find its functionality similar to how it works on Apple Messages. You can edit a WhatsApp message as many times as you want within the set 15-minute time limit. The edited message will be visible to the recipients running the most recent version of the app. You can’t edit WhatsApp messages on the Web app yet.

It’s really simple to edit a message on WhatsApp. Here’s how:

  1. Select the message you want to edit by press and holding it.
  2. Tap on Edit from the message context menu (on iOS) or go to the three-dot menu at the top right corner of the screen (on Android).
  3. Type the new message you want to send in the text field.
  4. Tap the green check mark button next to the text box, and your edited message is saved.

I’ve waited for this feature on WhatsApp for a long time. It will especially be useful for people like me who make a lot of typos. From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, you can do a lot by editing a WhatsApp message. Notably, WhatsApp will mark Edited messages as edited on the message box to make the recipient aware of the correction without showing edit history.
