Whatsapp New Update: Chat Transfer

Getting a new phone is exciting, but the hassle of having to install all the apps on one device can quickly dampen your excitement. But if you decide to redownload WhatsApp, new updates are a relief. Previously, users had to use WhatsApp's backup and restore feature or a third-party app to access their conversations on their new mobile device.

But starting today, just scan a QR code and you'll see new chats with large media files and attachments. "For the first time, users can save their entire chat and media history without leaving the app," WhatsApp explained.

WhatsApp hopes it will offer a more secure option for users setting up the app on a new phone.'More secure than using unofficial third-party apps which lack clear privacy practices, and more private than cloud services, the transfer process is authenticated with a QR code, data is only shared between your two devices and is fully encrypted during transfer,' WhatsApp explained. 'It's faster than backing up and restoring your chat history and you can now also transfer large media files and attachments, which were usually too large to keep.'Unfortunately, the new chat transfer tool is only available between devices on the same operating system, so won't work if you're changing from Android to iPhone or visa-versa.To transfer your chats, make sure you have both your old phone and your new phone physically with you. You'll need to be connected to WiFi and have location enabled. On your old phone, open WhatsApp, then Settings, Chats, and Chat Transfer. At this point, a QR code should appear on your screen.

Scan the QR code with your new phone and the chat will automatically transfer.

This new feature will likely be welcomed by his WhatsApp users, many of whom have been vocal about the chat transfer process for years.
